Ideation is one of the most exciting and fulfilling processes I have the privilege of engaging in on a weekly, if not daily, frequency. It naturally inspires change by shaking up the status quo or creating something that was unknown to the world up to that point. I see Ideation especially powerful when directed toward improving individual lives and communities. Many of the interactions I share with both emerging and established nonprofits are purposed with transitioning such ideation to implementation for the greater good.
Best practice asserts that implementation is founded by way of a vetting process to ensure resources will be used constructively and responsibly. Past that, however, Action must replace Ideation. Both the curse and advantage of coupling new ideas with action is that there is no set process dictating next steps, no number of meetings or committees that assure success. The standard way of going about business may not always work.
As we celebrate six years in business this month, I reflect upon the multitude of ideas we have worked alongside and helped to bring into the light. To be facilitators of the ideas that ultimately change lives is a role that we honor. I am proud to say that Maximizing Excellence provides the space and expertise necessary for ideas to evolve and for action to breed the positive change that philanthropy is capable of producing.
